Volunteering at Brighton
First of all, thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at Brighton Woods! We are 100% volunteer run so we know exactly how hard it can be to commit to something like this, and we are grateful for every single moment of volunteer time we get! Please read through the various ways we can utilize volunteer efforts!
ALL VOLUNTEERS must be registered with GSCNC and have an eBiz account so that they can complete the required background check. If you have a membership in our neighboring council (GSCM) you will still need to establish a membership with GSCNC. If you have a lifetime Girl Scout membership but no eBiz account please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance with setting up your eBiz account. For the safety of our campers these requirements are not negotiable; every volunteer must be registered and background checked.
If you read through all of this and are ready to move forward, please click here for our volunteer application!
Unit LeaderOur greatest need is for Unit Leaders! Unit leaders spend all day with a unit of girls, usually 20-25 girls. Typically we have 2 adults plus several teens with a unit of younger girls so you are never alone; and we will always try to pair new leaders with more experienced leaders to make things easier for everyone! You will be spending your days with that unit of girls leading them through activities like Stone Soup, going to their activities, ice cream, hiking around camp, mascot hunts and more. More unit leaders is how we are able to accept more girls at camp!
We are in need of someone certified in First Aid/CPR to be in our health center for girls during the day. This person would be responsible for administering medications according to Montgomery County standards (with the correct permission forms on file), and handling small first aid situations with campers. Usually these are things like band aids, ice packs, rest, etc. Even better would be if we have two individuals working on this who can share the work. First Aid always has teens to help as well. In addition, this year First Aid will be in air conditioned Friendship Lodge!
Currently we are mostly set for activity leaders but we can always use more adults who can help with things like knots, camp skills, slingshots, tomahawks, archery, orienteering and more. If you are someone skilled in one of those areas who'd be interested in leading a special activity with girls, please contact us!
