Volunteering at Brighton

First of all, thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at Brighton Woods! We are 100% volunteer run so we know exactly how hard it can be to commit to something like this, and we are grateful for every single moment of volunteer time we get! Please read through the various ways we can utilize volunteer efforts!

Brighton Woods does take part-time volunteers now! We understand it's difficult to commit to two full weeks; but we do ask for a minimum committment of 5 days. It's easiest for us if you can reserve one full week for Brighton, but even if it needs to be spread out, please don't hesitate to volunteer!

We believe that when you get kids together outside, magic happens. We're so excited to have you joining us to help create magic in the woods!

Unit Leader

Our greatest need is for Unit Leaders! Unit leaders are the backbone of our camp! To be a Unit Leader you'll need a great attitude, patience, and a wide streak of kindness! Unit leaders spend all day with a unit of campers, usually 15-20 kids. Typically we have 2 adults plus several teens with a unit of younger campers so you are never alone; and we will always try to pair new leaders with more experienced leaders to make things easier for everyone! Plus, our talented and enthusiastic teens are fully capable of leading most activities; you are there in a support role with them. You will be spending your days with that unit of campers leading them through activities like Stone Soup, going to their activities, ice cream, hiking around camp, mascot hunts and more. More unit leaders is how we are able to accept more campers at camp!

Boys Unit

Yes, we have a boys unit at our Girl Scout camp! Children of volunteers get to come to camp and that includes boys. Boys under 5 will have fun in our Pixies unit, but boys older (done with Kindergarten) will join our Rangers unit! This is a great unit for a dad or big brother (18 and older) to come have fun in the woods with!

Activity Leader

We are always looking for adults who are certified in archery, tomahawks, slingshots and camp certified to share their skills at camp! We also love anyone who wants to work with our campers in art, knots, knife skills, first aid and music. If you are someone skilled in one of those areas who'd be interested in leading a special activity with campers, please contact us!

Camp Nurse

This is an incredibly special role! You will get to know everyone in camp! What you need to have are a positive attitude, patience, and some excellent organizational skills. You do not need to be a nurse to fill this role! You do need to be Level 1 or 2 First Aid certified. First Aid also has a talented teen staff to help.
